Fremantle Prison is one of Western Australia's most fascinating and significant cultural attractions. The history of Fremantle Prison dates back to the early beginnings of Western Australia and its role in the development of this State is unparalleled. It is the largest convict built structure in Western Australia and the most intact convict establishment in the nation. In 2010, Fremantle Prison became the first building in Western Australia to be included on the World Heritage list. It is inscription on the World Heritage list was part of a serial nomination with ten other Australian Convict Sites.

A great spot for an experience, we enjoyed the tour with the fun lady, pity we didn’t have time to return for one of the other tours. Well worth the time & money. Full review by waldorf53

We did one of the guided tours. $44 for 2 adults. We thought it great value and certainly interesting covering the last 100 years of the prison’s operation. From reception to cells to exercise yards… Full review by PeterG873

I personally would get there about 20 minutes early as there are rooms/areas and displays you can look at prior to the commencement of your tour. We also had dinner prior to the tour in Fremantle, which made for a really nice evening down there.

How do I get there using public transport

Use the free CAT bus. Get off near the old market and it’s a 10 minute walk.

Please be aware I only did behind bars tour and there were some very adult themes so I am unable to advise
