Chipotle Mexican Grill responds to high demand by temporarily limiting employee chicken orders, now lifting the restriction to resume normal operations, easing concerns over supply challenges.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. told its employees last week not to include chicken in their own meals, as surging customer demand crimped supply — but the chain now says its workers can go back to ordering freely.

Chipotle says its employees can choose chicken once again. Last week, the chain asked its U.S. and Canadian employees to temporarily select another protein for their work meals to preserve the company’s supply of chicken.

Chipotle has confirmed that employees are no longer being asked to refrain from ordering the chicken al pastor.

Chipotle CEO Brian Niccol said the chain plans to deploy some of its avocado-cutting robots at its busier locations as early as this year. Chipotle is hogging its chicken from employees in a bid to keep up with surging demand from customers.
