New York Police Department officers in riot gear entered Columbia University’s campus on Tuesday night and arrested pro-Palestinian protesters, many of whom had occupied a campus building. The police took away protesters in zip ties and put them in at least three buses,

The arrests came after of pro-Palestinian protesters tried to take over an administrative building at City College. Earlier, the police cleared a building that had been occupied at nearby Columbia University.

On Monday night, the campus police at the university, which is known as Cal Poly Humboldt, began trying to dispel the protesters, using loudspeakers to call for the roughly 150 people outside the building to leave and declaring the protest an “unlawful assembly.” The protesters chanted and sang, with some linking arms in front of the building.

Yale police began clearing an anti-Israel encampment Tuesday, as New Haven, Connecticut, police told protesters they wouldn't be arrested unless they block traffic.

Police moved in to remove pro-Palestinian protest tents set up at Yale University in New Haven and at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
