The U.S. will allocate $6 billion for military assistance for Ukraine under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), the U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced on April 26 after the U.

The $6 billion tranche of funds are part of the Pentagon’s Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which has already given Ukraine about $18.9 billion to arm itself with weapons directly from vendors in the United States since Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country in February 2022.

The U.S. will provide Ukraine additional Patriot missiles for its air defense systems as part of a massive $6 billion additional aid package, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced Friday.
