The Jammu Constituency of Jammu & Kashmir, one of the state's six Lok Sabha seats, will be up for election this year in the 2024 Lok Sabha.

Accompanied by his friends dressed in traditional attires, a groom decked up in sherwani and colourful headgear was among the first to cast his vote at a polling booth in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur.

Jammu and Kashmir gears up for its first Lok Sabha election after the revocation of Article 370, which previously granted special status to the region. This election carries particular significance as it marks a new era for the state following its reorganization and the emergence of Ladakh as a separate union territory.

The Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir recorded nearly 58% voter turnout till 3 pm on Friday. Around 43 percent of the total electors in the constituency had cast their votes till 1 pm.
