Jon Batiste is a man of the people. The hometown hero had the crowd in the palm of his hands at his headlining performance at New Orleans Jazz Fest on Friday, April 2, even leading his band through the tightly-packed audience at one point.

The New Orleans piano tradition was more in evidence at the opposite end of the Fair Grounds, where hometown star Jon Batiste headlined the Shell Gentilly Stage.
