The NYSE has polled market participants about the merits of round-the-clock trading, the Financial Times reported.

The New York Stock Exchange, owned by Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:ICE) has started polling market participants on their interest and potential implications for an exchange that trades stocks 24/7.

The survey comes as start-up 24 Exchange, backed by Steve Cohen’s Point72 hedge fund, is seeking SEC approval to launch the first round-the-clock exchange. The filing is the second attempt for 24X, which withdrew a proposal last year over operational and technical issues.

The largest stock exchange in the world is reportedly gauging interest in becoming an around-the-clock operation.

Stock market today: The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), as per reports, is considering a proposal to run trading in equities 24/7. Reports say that, like stock futures, US bonds, and cryptos, there are plans to run trading in stocks too, round the clock.

The New York Stock Exchange has asked market participants to weigh in on its proposal to operate 24 hours a day, the same schedule that cryptocurrencies operate on, the Financial Times reported.
