The weekend looks cooler and unsettled across the Carolinas as a slow-moving frontal boundary will bring scattered showers and storm both days of the weekend.

As we move through this Friday, expect clouds and some sunshine here in North Texas. A few isolated showers and storms are possible, especially by afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 80s. Then, later tonight,

There will be rounds of rain but some partial clearing at times for a meteor shower peaking this weekend.

Planetary alignment Mars, Saturn and Mercury and peak meteor shower viewing to kick off the first weekend of May 2024.

The Eta Aquarid meteor shower, remnants of Halley’s comet, peaks this weekend. And with just a waning crescent moon in the sky, it should be visible. The Eta Aquarids occur every year in early May. This year’s peak activity happens early Sunday with an expected 10 to 30 meteors visible per hour in the Northern Hemisphere.
