An attack on pro-government fighters by suspected members of the Islamic State group in central Syria killed 22 pro-government fighters, an opposition war monitor and pro-government media reported Friday.

In a statement, Syria’s defense ministry said “at 02:55, the Israeli enemy carried out an attack using missiles… targeting our air defense sites in the southern region.” Material damage was caused by the attack, the ministry added.
