A black bear exhibiting "abnormal behaviors" attacked a Pennsylvania man earlier this week. Testing confirmed the animal was rabid.

It was a close call for a man who was attacked by a bear in Carbon County and it was caught on camera. The video shows the bear approaching the man in Jim Thorpe on Sunday. That man tries to walk away but the bear follows and then jumps on him.

Andrew Nierer, of Jim Thorpe, was coming home from a nearby grocery store when the small bear attacked him. Security camera footage from a nearby home shows the bear tackling Nierer and assaulting him before a neighbor comes up and shoots and kills the animal.

A Jim Thorpe man had a close call after a bear attacked him Sunday morning. Andrew Neirer, a quick-thinking neighbor, shot the bear, perhaps saving the victim’s life. Neirer says he was walking to the store on a trail from his house when he spotted the bear sitting in the middle of the trail in a wooded area.
