On the Ground as California Wildfires Rage
On Monday night, fire crews continued to fight the Line fire, which has burned over 26,000 acres in San Bernardino County. The number of structures now threatened by the Line fire has grown to 65,000. Pat Nolan, a resident of Running Springs, sought refuge at the Jessie Turner Health and Fitness Community Center in Fontana, which is currently being used as an evacuation center. More than 50 miles away, firefighters helped evacuate livestock from a farm at the foothills of the Airport fire, which started on Monday in Orange County. The Airport fire grew to more than 8,000 acres on Monday night. Officials say it may have been sparked by crews using equipment to move boulders. Advertisement
