SpaceX is requesting an election to decide if its Starship rocket site should be incorporated as a city in South Texas. The company is developing and launching the world’s most powerful rocket from an unincorporated community outside of Brownsville known as Boca Chica.

Elon Musk wants to make his SpaceX headquarters into a Texas city, the billionaire said in a request to local officials Thursday. And it's not just Musk making the case — the petition came from residents of the South Texas area around Starbase.
