An Iowa community shaken to its core by an EF-4 tornado has risen from the devastation to rebuild, remember and move forward.

"Severe thunderstorms capable of all severe hazards remain possible this evening across portions of the central and southern Plains," a forecast from the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center (SPC) said. "Several strong to intense tornadoes are possible," it added.

Last May, a tornado tore through an unincorporated area of Story County near Nevada, leaving behind significant damage and destruction. Angie Fritz vividly recalls the devastating event on May 21, 2024. "It happened pretty quick. We could hear the deck furniture scraping across the concrete," Fritz said.
