Israel was largely shut down on Saturday as most of the country observed Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar.

Officials were searching for survivors after at least 22 people were killed and more than 100 injured in a rare attack in central Beirut. In Israel, as Yom Kippur began, sirens sounded and the military shot down at least one drone launched from Lebanon.
