The director of north Gaza's Kamal Adwan hospital and the territory's civil defense agency said Israel conducted several strikes that hit the facility.

Airstrikes, gunfire, panic and orders to evacuate in the dark of night combined to cause heavy casualties in the area of Kamal Adwan, one of the last hospitals still operating in northern Gaza.

The Israeli military said its aircraft struck senior Hamas militants involved in terrorist activities in the area.
