Over the summer there was quite a bit of speculation that Prince William and Kate Middleton were considering an invitation to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics. It came on the heels of her much-celebrated appearances at Trooping the Colour and the men’s singles final at Wimbledon and the expectations were high at that point.

Prince William stood firmly by wife Princess Catherine’s side as she battled cancer earlier this year. Earlier today, the Prince of Wales revealed that the reason he did not travel to Paris for the Olympics earlier this year is that he wanted to protect Kate as she underwent preventative chemotherapy.

Prince William revealed he did not attend the Paris Olympics this summer because he didn’t want to bring Covid home to the Princess of Wales as she underwent chemotherapy. William made the admission to 2024 Olympians Adam Peaty and Tom Dean and Paralympians Maisie Summers-Newton and Louise Fiddes during a meeting at Birtley Community Pool on Thursday (3 October).
