Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted Tuesday, spewing out massive amounts of lava.

This volcano is considered one of the most active on the planet and usually features eruptions characterized by powerful lava fountains and flows that accumulate inside the crater.

The eruptions at Kilauea prompted closures at a national park and part of a highway because of falling glassy volcanic fragments, including ash.
