SpaceX's Polaris Dawn crew has returned to Earth after an historic mission that featured the first private spacewalk.The Dragon capsule splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico near Florida's Dry Tortugas in the early hours of Sunday.

The Polaris Dawn mission launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center on September 10, and returned to Earth on September 15, 2024.

On September 12, 2024, SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn astronauts completed the first commercial spacewalk in history. The historic moment was live-streamed as Commander Jared Isaacman and mission specialist Sarah Gillis each crawled out of the space capsule high above Earth.

The crew of the 'Polaris Dawn' spent five days in space. SpaceX showed what they were able to see during this time: the Earth from space. Their capsule orbited the
