Potential Tropical Cyclone Six is about 305 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Rio Grande and about 545 miles south of Cameron, Louisiana, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 8 a.m. advisory. Winds in the system have reached a maximum sustained speed of 50 mph as it moves north-northwest at approximately 5 mph.

The weather system is forecast to instensify into a hurricane and make landfall on Florida's west coast on Wednesday.

Forecasts suggest Hurricane Milton is likely to make landfall in the western part of the Florida peninsula, bringing rain, ocean surge and damaging winds.
