Costco is now one of the largest companies to sue the Trump administration over tariffs, hoping to secure a refund if the Supreme Court declares the new import duties illegal.

Costco filed in the Court of International Trade, arguing that the Trump administration’s tariffs — issued through the International Emergency Economic Powers Act — weren’t legally authorized.

"The economic consequences of the failure to uphold President Trump's lawful tariffs are enormous and this suit highlights that fact," White House spokesperson Kush Desai told CNBC in a statement.
