The Texas Senate passed a bill aimed at bringing more film and television production to Texas on Wednesday. Senate Bill 22, filed by Sen. Joan Huffman, R-Houston, would set aside $500 million every two years until 2035 for the “Moving Image Industry Incentive Fund.

The education bill is now heading to the Senate after the House gave approval on Thursday. If a deal is reached, though, the bill will become public, and lawmakers will debate it in each chamber before a vote.

After hours of debate — and years of pushing from Gov. Greg Abbott — the Texas House approved to a bill to create an Education Savings Account plan. The school voucher program would allow parents to use public funds toward private school costs.
