Over 150 million Americans are bracing for severe weather as thunderstorms which threaten to produce hurricane-like winds and tornadoes roll across the midwest.

Tornadoes may hit the Mississippi Valley on Friday, as well as blizzards in the northern Plains and gusty conditions in Texas that pose a high risk of wildfires.

The line of strong storms will hit the U.S. from the Canadian border to the north down to the Gulf Coast on Friday night.

The forecast comes days after an expansive storm similarly trekked across the U.S. last week, unloading snow in the northern Plains and bringing tornadoes and wildfires to the South. At least five storm-related deaths in Nebraska and Mississippi were tied to that storm.
