Lawyers for former President Donald Trump called for the immediate dismissal of the 2020 election subversion charges against him, arguing this week that the prosecution’s actions violate the Supreme Court‘s presidential immunity ruling and Trump’s due process rights.

They argued that Trump’s alleged pressure campaign on Mike Pence would qualify as official conduct and is protected by “absolute” immunity.

Trump’s lawyers late Thursday night — having missed the 5 p.m. deadline — used a basic procedural step to revive many arguments Judge Chutkan already rejected to get the immunity case dismissed or delayed.
