Tupperware, known the world over for its plastic food storage containers, has filed for bankruptcy after years of falling popularity and financial troubles.

Tupperware Brands plans to file for bankruptcy as early as this week, according to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the company.

It could signal the end of an era, but the Tupperware company vows to continue its long tradition even after filing for bankruptcy this week, according to a release. A Sept. 17 release from the company stated,
