NWS warns of heavy snow, frigid air, and hazardous travel as a winter storm hits northern states from Montana to West Virginia ahead of the weekend.

NEW YORK — Millions along the Interstate 95 corridor on the Northeast Coast will see their first significant winter storm of the season this weekend, as a fast-moving system takes advantage of freezing temperatures brought by another invasion of the Polar Vortex .

With winter weather expected this weekend, ODOT says its crews are fully prepared to handle the snow across Northeast Ohio.

Chicago weather this weekend will be frigid, with wind chills pushing temperatures below zero into the double digits. The winter weather blast begins with scattered flurries on Friday, with little to no accumulation expected.

Two winter systems are expected to bring several rounds of accumulating snow to central Ohio beginning tonight and continuing into the weekend.

CLEVELAND — With more lake effect snow on the way, the National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Winter Storm Watch for a portion of Northeast Ohio for most of the weekend.
