The body of an Arizona woman, who was hiking at Grand Canyon National Park before being swept away in a flash flood last week, has been recovered.

A solo backpacker has been found dead near a rugged and remote trail along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, authorities in Arizona say.

Chenoa Nickerson of Gilbert, Arizona, has been missing since Thursday afternoon when heavy rain triggered a flash flood that washed her into Havasu Creek in the Grand Canyon, about a half mile from where the creek meets the Colorado, River, according to the National Park Service.
