A court in Thailand on Wednesday removed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from office over an ethical violation, which further shook up Thai politics after the court ordered the main opposition party to dissolve a week ago.

Thailand's Constitutional Court has removed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from office for violating the constitution over a cabinet appointment. The court said on Wednesday Mr Srettha had "grossly breached ethical standards." "The court has found 5-4 that the accused is terminated as prime minister due to his lack of honesty," the judges said.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin was removed from office on 14 August 2024, after the Constitutional Court of the Kingdom of Thailand ruled that he had violated ethical standards over the appointment of Mr. Pichit Chuenban as Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office.
