It prefers partial shade and slightly acidic soil but is hardy and can tolerate the occasional cold snap as well as soil that is less fertile. It is a voluminous plant that plumps nicely, so if planting more than one be sure to space them 18" to 24" apart so as not to restrict the plant's dense form. Other plants in the shade garden such as ferns or hellebores often bloom in tandem with the 'Jack Frost', making this brunnera a perfect complement to your existing flora. When paired with a Royal Heritage hellebore the results are amazing as the silver 'Jack Frost' leaves contrast wonderfully with the hellebore blooms. 'Jack Frost' thrives in moist, well-drained soil.
