Buffalo grass is a great lawn solution for those who want to spend less time mowing and watering their lawns. Buffalo Grass Seed grows 6 in. tall and forms a thick, rugged, blue-green mat that rarely needs mowing. A hardy native of the dry prairie states, Buffalo Grass resists heat and drought as well as insects and most lawn diseases. It will not survive in areas that receive more than 25 inches of rain annually. This sun-loving, warm season grass also does not tolerate shade. For best results, sow Buffalo Grass Seed in the spring and use our zone finder information and recommendations to ensure successful gardening. Buffalo grass can take about 3 to 4 weeks to germinate. To help your buffalo grass grow, keep the soil lightly moist, watering briefly and often. Once you start seeing small green shoots, continue watering this way for another two weeks. After that, you can begin watering deeply and infrequently to help the root system grow. 1/2 lb. of seed covers 250 sq. ft. Zones 3-9.
