Introduction Vigorous Upright Shoots! Accents areas of your landscape that could use blooms and delicious fruit Self-Pollinating, Spring Blooms Very Adaptable Disease Free & Heat Tolerant Never Bareroot... All plants come rooted into a container with soil. Description Methley Plum is a cultivar of a Japanese plum that is small and upright with just enough of a spreading form to make this an absolutely beautiful tree. It produces heavy, annual crops of juicy, sweet, red purple fruit. The fruit is juicy, sweet and mild with a distinctive flavor which is good for fresh eating or jelly. This vigorous plum tree, considered more productive and attractive than just about any other plum tree, produces an abundant harvest of fruit each year. So much, in fact, that one harvest requires multiple pickings! It's an upright, spreading tree with pretty springtime blossoms and glossy green leaves that make it quite ornamental. How To Care Plums require minimal pruning which should be done after flowering when the tree is still leafless. In the formative years, pruning can be to remove interior branches, water sprouts, growing scaffold branches, and dead, damaged, or diseased wood. In maturity, vigorous upright shoots are removed as fruiting increasingly occurs on spurs on older wood. Landscape Ideas You don't need a large farm to grow Methley Plum Trees. The Methley is a compact tree with an easy-to-harvest height of 10 to 20 feet, making it ideal for tight spaces and petite properties. And it self-pollinates so you can plant just one (though several trees mean more fruit).
